Like many people, at first I thought they were creepy due to their realism. Now I can appreciate the effort it takes to create these works of art. Why people get them is their business and to each his own. No different then people that collect bottle caps. Many may see that as wierd.

I agree that they're amazing as works of art, but the terminology disturbs me. Very beautiful as dolls, very creepy to hear that some people think of them as "babies".

I think the artists should be recognised more and less focus should be made on the people that buy them - whats wrong after all.

collecting dolls has been a hobby for many years, I love making these dolls, it takes a lot of time.. it's art... I don't treat them like real babies because the are dolls.. I see nothing disturbing about that, and I've heard people is like having a baby.. well it's not.. a doll is a doll, not a human being

Ok
my 2 cents is its ok to collect them, just fine to play with them at home, just fine to have 1,6 or 600 if you collect them. Even to take them outside to hand out biz cards. But to take them outside in public and act like the are real, well not for me...

Not only are the reborn babies fun to collect but they can be very theraputic, especially for women. Studies have shown that holding and cuddling a baby, whether a real baby or a realistic baby, releases hormones in the body that promotes emotional well being.
